Edibility Young leaves are preferred and are eaten raw right off the plant. They have a slightly tart but very pleasant flavor. They can also be cooked and will maintain their beautiful color. The flowers are not eaten but can be used to make tea.
Characteristics Plant can be grown from seed easily, however the simplest way to propagate cranberry hibiscus is to simply chop off a branch and push it a few inches into the soil. Trimming plants early and often increases leaf production and extends the life of the plant.
