Mulberry

Mulberry

Morus nigra

Origin Temperate Asia and North America

Edibility Mulberries are similar in flavor and appearance to blackberries but without the bothersome seeds. The texture is very delicate, almost popping and melting in your mouth.

Characteristics Mulberry trees are large and fast growing deciduous trees that can be grown from seed or cuttings. Since the fruit ripens on the tree it is best to keep mulberry trees trimmed short like a hedge. Interestingly, trimming the mulberry will prompt it to fruit again.
