Sugar Apple
Sugar Apple
Annona squamosa
Origin Central and South America
Edibility Sugar apples are delicious fruits with custard-like flesh and very sweet flavors reminiscent of cotton candy, pineapple and apple. They contain many seeds that need to be removed while eating the fruit, but it is well worth the trouble!
Characteristics Sugar apples are fast growers but they do not get large (under 20 feet). Their branching and foliage is delicate, giving them a graceful presence in the garden. Fruits mature during the summer.
