  • Meet our director

Hi, I’m Gary Linnell and I am the executive director of 2Day4Tomorrow. That may sound like an office job, but I spend the majority of my time in the field. I’ve been a Florida resident since 1977 and have witnessed firsthand the impact our growing population has had on our natural spaces. I have always been passionate about the environment and I am so excited to be able to help give back.

  • On the land

Our food forest initiative is very exciting! We believe that food forests are one of the most powerful tools that individuals can use to address serious environmental challenges like global warming, deforestation, soil degradation, food wastage, water scarcity, and water pollution. We are working with individuals, schools, and communities to promote food forests through educational videos, in-person tutorials and installations.

  • In the water

When we aren’t in the forest we are in the water. Plastics are a huge problem in our marine environment and we address this by organizing weekly beach and mangrove shoreline cleanups. We have also spearheaded a cooperative project with Bahamian scientists to breed threatened longspine sea urchins, which are the primary algae grazers on coral reefs and are essential to the recovery of these fragile ecosystems.

Podcasts Interviews Lectures

I’m comfortable being on camera, speaking to a group, or in a classroom with students. Areas of interest and expertise for me include:

Marine habitat
As a lifelong fisherman, diver and waterman, I have tremendous depth of understanding of marine life and can speak intelligently to any questions dealing with marine and coastal ecosystems, and the roles we can play as their stewards.

Teaching class
I love children (I have two of my own) and have taught environmental lessons in classrooms and gardens. I particularly enjoy teaching children outdoors and grounding lessons in nature

Food forests
I have been growing food forests for over a decade and have worked with close to 100 plant species. I can speak to all things food forest and am particularly fond of teaching their environmental benefits.

Going green in the home
I have 25 years of real estate experience and I’m a certified LEED Green Associate. I understand how we can make our homes and buildings better and safer for ourselves and our environment.
